I’m pleased to announce that Irr_Ational is the latest addition to our mod team. She’s been actively contributing to the site for about half a year now, and we’re sure that she has a lot of wisdom to bring to the DL staff. Welcome aboard, Irr_Ational!

The first Jewel beta is here! Those of you who have Chrome 2+, Firefox 3.5+, Internet Explorer 7+, or Opera 9+ will be able to beta test the beginnings of Diamond Luster's future platform by visiting the following site:

There are a few notes you should know before using the Jewel beta:

1. The September beta is virtually unchanged from the DL3 that many of you saw during the month of August. We focused on backend changes that will allow us to expand the platform in the future.

2. Your "read" history (which threads you have read, and to what point) will be different on Gem and Jewel this month. If you were previously on Jewel, your reads from the month of August, but not from September will be visible on the Jewel beta. If you were not previously on Jewel, you will have no read history on the Jewel site. Gem reads remain unchanged. For the October beta, we will combine both read histories.

3. Feel free to use both sites side-to-side. Generally, Gem is better for guides, editing profile information, and creating/adding members to PTs (as well as miscellaneous features, such as the weekly poll), while Jewel is much faster (especially with PTs). Use the two as you see works best for you.

4. Share your thoughts! If you choose to beta test, please post suggestions, feedback, and glitches on the newly-made Jewel Beta Discussions sticky.

We have already had several submissions, and we've found a few miscommunications about our guides improvement program, announced earlier this week.

First, these guides are for the Animal Crossing games only. City Folk/Let's Go to the City guides are preferred, since it is the newest game and our most limited section. While we will eventually add DL guides, the information for them will be changing with Jewel, and our staff will be responsible for them, so we will not be accepting them as a part of this program.

Secondly, the AC guides must be original guides. They must have been written by you, although it does not matter whether or not they were written specifically for this purpose (you could have written it previously on your own or for another site). Once approved, your guide will carry your name at the bottom of the screen (see our current guides for a visualization). Please do not copy/paste guides from other sources without having written that content.
